Alrighty.

This place will be inactive until I get my design site set up, again. So far, I’ve settled on the same. the Lounge, with the “the” and “Lounge” with a captial. I’ll explain why when it’s not merely an idea anymore.

I’ve been working on Memoir and another project. Wordpress is finally no longer a problem for me =) this means no more bugs, spams, a neat and easy to manage updating system! I know, Memoir has a fairly simple layout, so here you go: Garden. It’s not my usual style…the Lounge will definitely go back to my comfort zone  >:)

Be back soon!

Happy New Year

Posted in Daily, Holiday, Rant | No Comments »

And here  comes 2009…happy New Year! This year’s New Year’s Resolution:

  1. Drop a few pounds
  2. Get better grades
  3. Keep on designing =)
  4. Have more frequent piano lessons
  5. Buy a new violin…or a new bow, at least
The four-day-trip to states would definitely be more pleasant to remember if I didn’t get sick at the end of it. Now I have a stuffy nose and I can’t go anywhere with a droopy head >:

I was not planning to read the Twilight saga by Stephanie Meyer. Not because it’s not well written — in fact it’s very entertaining and much better crafted than most of the romance novels out there — but because I knew if I read the first one, I would want to finish the series. Unfortunately, I just had to read the summaries on Wikipedia, and Bella’s character really frustrated me. Then, I simply decided that “out of sight, out of mind” was going to settle the case for me here.

Actually, not many people know that the first novel, Twilight, was intended for an adult audience rather than the teenage fangirl frenzy that it stirred up instead. My English teacher told us that, and I do see her (and Meyer’s) point. The novel is out there to remind us of the days when we were still young and well, helplessly in love.

Anyway. So I had to see the absolutely gorgeous novel cover on someone’s bookshelf; and I just had to read it…and everything fell in place within 24 hours. There goes my 80 bucks which I was planning to spend on my J-rock CD collection, sigh.

By the way, the movie was a poor attempt at satisfying the fangirls’ hunger for seeing Edward Cullen in real life. Catherine Hardwicke didn’t make it a complete disaster, but Edward’s character was not well developed at all compared to the novel. I speak so harshly of it is probably because I’m not in love with Robert Pattison like everyone else. On the contrary, I absolutely loved  Peter Facinelli who played Carlisle Cullen.

Letter IV: A Christmas Miracle

Dear God,

I don’t know what I can say or do to extend my gratitude. Thank you for bringing Teukie back to me… completely unharmed. Furthermore, thank you for the valuable lesson.

With love and sincerity,

Cindy

That’s right, Teukie is back… and I mean, even the monitor is working now! I went to the Apple Store at Eaton Centre with Teresa today. Without scheduling an appointment in advance, a Mac Genius actually spent an hour helping us! Long story short, they managed to put Teukie into the remote disk mode. As soon as they did that, the Mac Genius said: “Well, your LCD screen isn’t broken…it’s actually working perfectly as you can see.” Me: “What??!!” And there Teukie was…with its pretty little apple logo lit up on its back =O

So, my conclusions from this series of events are:

  1. have faith in whoever you believe in
  2. treat your gadgets with kindness
  3. Macs are sometimes capable of surviving through a water damage…so what if they are expense?

And people wonder why Apple has such loyal fans…well, if you must know — Apple really does everything they can to help you…even if:

  1. your model has been discontinued (my Powerbook G4 came out in 2003)
  2. you didn’t schedule an appointment in advance
  3. breaking the product was completely your fault
  4. they put more effort into keeping you happy with your old products than advertising their new ones
  5. and above all you don’t have to pay

On a side note, I finally received my copy of D’espairsRay’s [coll:set] today! I never thought I would be able to find the original Japanese copy…but I did on Amazon!! My gosh, I’ve been searching for this CD for almost 2 years now! What a wonderful day today is :D
